Custom homes are our specialty, and during the past 30 years, we have had the opportunity to work on homes that truly become works of art. About Sarah McCoy
Sarah McCoy, ASID, Principal and Lead Designer for McCoy Design Firm, Inc., has worked in residential and commercial design since 1995. In her years as a lead designer and project manager, she has developed some of the premier properties in the Vail Valley and across the United States. From private firms to her own interior design business and showroom, Sarah continues to bring a wealth of innovative and functional solutions to each project. She has led teams as an innovator in design techniques and applications that transformed projects from ordinary to extraordinary. Sarah holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Louis University and is continuing with a Master’s Degree in Interior Architecture at the Academy of Art in San Francisco.

How It Works
01. Discussing Your Vision
Our workflow begins with YOU! We jump right in with a review of your home during a walkthrough or with plans you may have on hand. We take time to talk about what you would like to change or what you would like to keep. We want to know about your lifestyle and how you plan to use the home. Are you creating a new home base for your family? Or do you plan to use the residence to generate income through part-time rentals, reserving it for yourself during special times of the year? Will the residence be shared with family or work groups? Do you have children and pets? We design around all these elements to provide the most functional and aesthetically pleasing environment suited specifically to your lifestyle.
If you are unsure of your design style or what you want to achieve, we can make recommendations, review past projects relevant to your needs, and discuss how to integrate them into your project.
02. Vision Board
With so many things to choose from, we work with what appeals to you. We create a vision board that includes color palette options, sketches, finishes, and materials for flooring, cabinets, lighting fixtures, furniture, window coverings, and artwork to hone in on your design vision.
03. Planning and Construction
We can help you resource tradespeople to make your project a reality or work with those who may be in place. We create a plan for timeline and budget to be sure everyone is included in a realistic plan moving forward. With a full plan review, we highlight space planning for individual rooms and make sure they function for ease of use and beauty. Interior architectural elements are created for you; this may include a new fireplace façade, railing, or specialty finish. Lighting plans are integral at this phase, and we work with you to select different types of lighting for different tasks and understand how they are controlled.
04. Finalization
The really fun part comes next! We finalize all material selections for all your cabinets, flooring, appliances, plumbing fixtures, stone, and tile; these are brought together into a presentation with color samples where you can see your vision being brought to life. In tandem, we select your furniture, window coverings, bedding, hardware, and accents to give you the big picture.
